The following is a guest post from Mama Fig!
When you have all you want when do you say it’s enough, I am satisfied? When has spending ceased and living begun?
America has become a nation of spenders, working endless hours just to have money to buy and re-buy homes, clothes, furniture and more, why? Because they have missed the point of what life is about, not the material things we possess but the love we have for life and in life. We are so busy working for what we think we want and our children are being raised by daycares and baby sitters, and we are so tired by the week-end that we pawn them off on relatives just to get some rest. Then we wonder how they went wrong and why they are not close to us after they leave home.
America is rich and many people want to come here to work and live, but if you investigate the different nationalities that come to America you will find not all of them have the same traits as the ones who were born here. Take the Japanese Americans, they cherish their elders and family is very important to them. Tradition is also important to them, and respect for family and tradition.
When was the last time tradition meant anything to you or your family?
Hispanic communities live as a family group also; many times they come to this country from such unspeakable poverty that having a house that services three or four families is a great improvement. They live as a community sometimes in just a few houses, but if one needs something there are others there to assist them, and they do not let anyone fall through the cracks.
Wake up American born, we need to start watching out for people, then maybe the crimes that are taking place in this country will go down, maybe people won’t be so tired they kill their own children because they can’t stand the crying. We will be judged one day for our lack of caring and our looking the other way while someone beats a child or an elderly parent or even a helpless animal.
You may think this is an off the wall post, but tell me where you think I am wrong! What do you base your facts on? You know I am right and that this country is no longer the greatest in the world just the most wasteful, like throwing an almost new couch to the curb because you want to change the color scheme, like scraping off a plateful of food into the garbage because your child is picky and wants something else, when kids are starving on the streets.
We all need to be proactive and start doing something to make our country better, which is what I am trying to do with this blog, hoping someone will read it and say, I think I will check on mom or dad or even an elderly neighbor, I am going to go home from work tonight and take the time to play with my children, read them a bedtime story and listen when they talk instead of hushing them all the time.
LIVE, LAUGH AND LOVE! Good advice!!
