Student Loan Update: Another One Bites The Dust

by Fig on January 17, 2013

In today’s news:

Another loan bites the dust

My second to last student loan is at $0!!!

I impulsively decided to pay it off a couple days after I got paid. It was a silly decision because now I’ve got next to no money to live on in the next two weeks. Maybe enough to buy groceries, but that’s it. Luckily all my bills for the month have been paid. Win!

Lately my student loan debt has been weighing heavily on me and I’ve desperately wanted it gone. It’s completely an emotional thing. I could easily have kept this loan going, paying $83.96 for the next 6 years until it was done. I didn’t want to do that. I wanted it gone now.

Thanks to this awesome student loan elimination I’ve only got one loan to go. That loan currently stands at $4,191.35.

I’m only $4k away from being completely debt free! It feels like a lot of money but it feels so amazing to be so close. I can’t wait to get that final payment in. Getting another loan squared away makes me want to be even more gazelle intense about this and pay off my final loan asap! It’s totally a high to make the debt disappear finally.

$16,000 down, $4,000 to go.

I can do this.

Wow great work, you’re really on the home straight now! Out of interest what is the interest rate on the loan?

It was 5%. My remaining ones are lower so I’m debating paying them off more slowly.
