Self-Employment Income Update November 2013

December 2, 2013 by Fig 1 Comment

Howdy! It’s been a full month since I started trying to focus on online income as a way to support myself. The month before I earned less than $300 so I’ve made some progress and felt like sharing. It’s partly to keep myself accountable and partly to get any suggestions from others.

Figuring Money Out Blog Updates

Since I’ve decided to focus on this blog it’s increased quite well.

  • Alexa Rank: 500,013
  • Page Rank: 3
  • Visits: 1,616

Goals for the blog for December?

  • Enter blog into blogger carnivals
  • Increase Alexa Rank to under 400,000
  • Increase visits to 3,000

That’s it! I really just want to get double the visits for this month. Even though it’s a month of holidays and time off I think it’s achievable with good content and promotion. Feel free to come back again and again to help me out!

New Services & Side Hustles

Since I’m trying to move from unemployed to self-employed, I’m offering a variety of services right now and am so excited about new clients who are interested in them. I think the mix of my skills and their needs will be a perfect fit. I know about SEO, social media, and all the boring blog admin stuff that many bloggers and small business owners just don’t have time to wrap their head around. It feels great to offer skills that will really help people. Speaking of those skills, here are my latest offerings for hire!

  • Blog Setup
  • Website/Blog Management
  • Social Media Management
  • Blog commenting
  • Virtual Assistant

If you need help with any of these things, let me know! I’m happy to help.

Self-Employment Goals

Sign on 1-3 new clients. I am in the works to sign my first real client next month once we get the details sorted. I’d love to sign on a couple more but even if I just close that deal I’ll be thrilled!

Build affiliate income. This is an area where I haven’t put in much effort but think I can do well. I only plan to offer affiliate links to products I really love which why I’ve signed up to be an affiliate for all of these awesome products I highly recommend:

  • Discover it®
  • Scottrade
  • Personal Capital
  • ReadyForZero
  • TransUnion

I will be adding and promoting more as I work on building this part of my self-employment income. If you see affiliate links on this site you’ll know you are helping me buy my groceries and getting great products since I only recommend products I’ve used and loved myself.

Keep doing offline gigs. I love, love, love this whole writing on the internet for a career idea. I want to try and double and triple the income from last month so it becomes an actual livable wage, but I also want to keep doing offline gigs. It’s a fun way to earn money, shake things up, and meet new people in person. I want to do at least a couple offline gigs every month.

Business and Other Income in November

So how did I do in November? The numbers please…

  • Website-Related  –  $758.84
  • Offline Gigs & Income – $350

November Income Total – $1,108.84

Self-Employment Thoughts

Income this month was on the low side for sure. Then I spent way to much shopping the Black Friday sales at Target so I’m feeling a tiny bit worried at the moment because… WHAT WAS I THINKING SHOPPING WHEN I’M SELF-EMPLOYED? Still, I was able to cover my main bills for the month and I’m not yet broke and homeless. Thank goodness I cut my expenses recently. Let’s call that a success!

Also, I just sent billing for $500, I have 2 offline gigs lined up, and a new client is signing on for website and social media management this month. It should be an even better month where I don’t really have many worries about income. Plus it will be the first month I’ve been able to focus on the online self-employment income as I had a lot of distractions in November that pulled me away from . Now I’m distraction free until Christmas and ready to HUSTLE.

How did you do in November? Did you meet your extra/business income goals?
