Joining The Yakezie Alexa Ranking Challenge

by Fig on July 25, 2010

The Challenge

I came across a post on the Financial Samurai’s blog from way back when about creating powerful friends in blogging via a challenge to improve alexa rank. Since I haven’t been blogging long I missed the original challenge (sad day!). Then I read the update about the challenge and how well it went in improving everyone’s blogging. I noticed that they are continuing the challenge and even creating a site for the list – Yakezie.com. That’s beyond awesome and even though I’m late to the party – I really want in!

Basically the challenge is to improve your Alexa ranking. If you are above 200,000 – like I am – then you are aiming to get below that. Then half it each time for your next goal. The biggest benefit of this is you’re on page 1 of Wise Bread’s Top 100 Personal Finance Blogs ranking. Getting on that list, let alone on page one, is one of my goals for this blog. So obviously this challenge is right up my alley.

I assumed it’s an open-to-anyone kind of thing still, so I’m throwing my tiny little blog into the fray. It would be great to make some connections in the personal finance blogging world. I’m starting at both the bottom with my finance and my blog, so having a few friends might be nice. Also, having a specific goal of having a certain alexa ranking will be nice. I’ve got my goals to become debt free, so now I can add and track my goals to become a better blogger, perhaps even with monthly progress reports for that. I do love progress reports. ;)

The Rules

The rules to join the Yakezie Alexa Ranking Challenge are as follows:

1) Install the Alexa toolbar if not already and comment what your current Alexa ranking is, so we can keep track.

2) Write consistently 2-4 times a week.

3) Install the Yakezie badge.

4) Announce on your blog that you have joined the challenge.

5) Selflessly promote others.

6) Stay committed!  Quitters are not desired in this challenge.

My Goal

I’m starting at 606,428 with Alexa. My goal is to be under 200,000!

Howdy Mate! Glad you found out about the challenge!

Yakezie.com does launch on August 16th, and I’m excited to see how things will turn out. All Yakezie Members are encouraged to do a Member Post about themselves and their areas of interest and expertise, and then another post suggesting ideas from their ideas.

I’m so excited about the Yakezie Scholarship vertical! Stay tuned!
