It’s that time of year where lots of finance bloggers meet in one place for FinCon. I’m totally jealous that everyone is going and I didn’t plan to go this year. I’m hoping next year to be in a place to go.
Blogging is a strange beast because it’s such a solitary activity. You are alone typing away at your keyboard and hoping someone cares. Often, no one does. You write and get no response or you write and get the opposite response of what you thought. It can be fun but also isolating and frustrating.
Connecting with other bloggers is the best way I’ve found to combat those negative aspects of blogging. I took a little break from blogging over the last month to figure out some personal things but now that I’m back I can’t wait to connect with everyone.
Coming back to blogging to find I was awarded the Sunshine Blogger Award from Messy Money is definitely a good start. Thank you so much!!

Is blogging what you thought it would be? Why or why not?
Blogging is both! I’ve been a blogger professionally for small businesses so I knew the ins and outs of posting content and promoting it online. The technical side of starting blogs and running them came easily to me.
However, blogging for yourself is so different! You have no one to motivate you so it’s easy to feel unmotivated and want to give up when you don’t see a ton of progress. If your blogging for income it is a long hard slog which I wasn’t expecting!
Describe something you have done recently to save money?
My roommate and I actually just started working toward cutting our electric bill. We saved $40 this month by turning off lights and electronics we weren’t using and turning the air off during the day. It added up and we are both happy to have that extra $20 per month!
What is your favourite book?
I’m going to pick one of my favorite finance books since this blog is all about personal finance!
This book was such a great read and it completed changed how I thought about wealth and living life financially. It was the first personal finance book I ever read and I still love it dearly.

Coffee. I’ve mentioned it before, but coffee is my indulgence and big monthly spend that could be cut out but is totally worth it to me. It makes my day better and I love having a latte or iced coffee each day!
Cinnamon! I love cinnamon so much. I’m actually chewing cinnamon gum right now and I use cinnamon in everything from my coffee to toast to baked goods. Anywhere I can sneak it in.
Anyone who reads this is nominated! I’ve been out of the loop with blogging so I’d love to connect or reconnect with everyone. Time for me to go read some of your blogs and catch up on what is happening in the personal finance world!
